The Mabin School

Recognized as one of Canada’s leading independent elementary schools in emergent learning, The Mabin School instills leadership, teamwork, problem-solving, and empathy in students from grades JK-7.

Mabin came to us for a complete redesign of their bi-annual magazine Changing Times and the creation of an insert that would inform student parents and alumni of the strategic plan for the school’s future. The creative direction and design for both pieces were inspired by a tour of the premises and the strong emphasis on learning through creative play that was evident from the myriad of art projects, models, and wall murals on display. Each panel of the strategic plan insert was thus created as individual art pieces with the content painted directly onto physical objects then photographed. Whereas the typography, photography, illustration and layout of the magazine all drew inspiration from the subject matter of each article and was designed to capture the joy of learning that exemplifies the Mabin spirit.
