Storycare is an innovative patient-centered care program that brings the arts and humanities into healthcare environments through storytelling, story listening, and story keeping.
A brand identity and website were required to launch Storycare, drive online bookings for speaking engagements and workshops, and to establish the founders of the program as thought leaders in this emerging field of therapeutic care. The design of the logo wordmark was inspired by the nostalgic drop cap lettering often found in tomes of cherished tales. Emphasis was placed on the visual design of the website through the creation of whimsical illustrations that bring patient stories to life. The illustration style was inspired by Thalia and Melpomene — the twin drama masks of classical greek comedy and tragedy. A series of abstract design elements consisting of various colours, shapes, and forms describe the language of storytelling through narrative, memory, and emotion; bringing bright and positive energy into the often drab interiors of hospitals, hospices, and aged care facilities.
